Commission Overview
The Library Commission shall act in a advisory capacity to the Councils of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills in all matters pertaining to the City libraries, shall cooperate with other governmental agencies and civic groups in the promotion of adequate and efficient library service to the community with prior approval of and at the direction of the City Council, shall make budget recommendations to the Councils with regard to the libraries and shall submit an annual report to both Councils.
The Library Commission is an advisory body charged with the responsibility of being a liaison group between the City Councils of the Town of Los Altos Hills and Los Altos. The Library Commission is also advisory to the Santa Clara County Joint Powers Authority Citizens Advisory Commission and advises the administrative staff of the County Library.
There are two libraries located in Los Altos; the Los Altos Library and the Woodland Branch. In addition, there are bookmobiles that serve the Town of Los Altos Hills. Please consult the Town’s Community calendar for the latest schedule.
