The Initial Draft Housing Element will be available for the community to review and provide input on. The draft will be available for 30 calendar days. After the public comment period, the draft will be revised and sent to the State Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) for review.
California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) requires a minimum 30-day public review period before the draft is sent for HCD for its first review. The public review period for the Draft Housing Element is from August 10, 2022 through Sunday, September 8, 2022..
Staff will consider the comments received during the public comment period, forward them to the HCD , and show changes made in response to public comment in the next iteration of the plan to be sent to HCD later this year. Adoption is scheduled to occur by the January 2023 deadline.
Depending on the scope of HCD comments, there is a possibility that the Town will utilize the 120 day grace period allowed for under state law
