Evacuation Plan The town emergency service coordinator lead a discussion in cooperation with LAH, Los Altos, the county department of emergency services and others department to review the towns evacuation plan. This plan will be included as part of our safety element and our Local Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Cal OES Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Town staff, with the help of resident Allan Epstein, submitted a Notice of Intent to apply (NOI) to California’s Office of Emergency Services Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. The proposed project would assist residents in creating a defensible space within their property and replacing old shake-roofs with class A roofs to mitigate against wildfires. If the Town’s project is selected to proceed to submit an application, staff will return to Council with more information. Internship Program This week Town staff began planning for a summer internship program for Los Altos Hills Town Hall. The Town intends to participate in Next Gen Silicon Valley’s internship program, which is a regional organization dedicated to attracting the future workforce of the public sector through internships and fellowships. The goal is to post job listings by March/April and onboard interns by May/June. Meeting with the Town Hall Architect Town staff met with the architect for the discontinued Phase 2 remodel project to reassess the contract between the two parties and determine if their services could be helpful as the Town reassess the needs of the community – specifically in terms of office space and community space. More details to come in later weeks.

Planning and Building Site Development / Fast Track Public Hearing On February 15, 2022, planning staff held a public hearing to discuss proposed Permit Modification to the Site Development Permit SD20-0096 to increase the height of the residence by one foot. The structure will remain at or below the 27-foot maximum height limit. The subject property is located at 26616 Westwind Way (File #PM22-0001.) The permit modification was approved with a few new conditions. The video recording and conditions of approval has been uploaded to the Town’s website and can be accessed here: https://www.losaltoshills.ca.gov/501/Public-Meeting-Resources under the meeting date.Housing Element Update: Other Meetings- Staff attended ‘Climate Roadmap Public Agency Workshop’ by the County discussing regional actions supporting (1) Building Electrification, and (2) Transportation.
- Staff attended a meeting sponsored by Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) regarding the adoption of REACH codes for existing building electrification. Discussion involved possible code changes and potential monetary incentives to encourage conversion to all-electric appliances in existing dwellings (switch from gas furnace to heat pump; gas water heater to heat pump or equivalent; gas stove to induction; etc.).

Public Works Engineering Matadero Creek – Site visit to verify the depth and location of the creek in relation to the existing pavement on Page Mill Road, and evaluate slope protection measures against erosion.CIP ProjectsTown Hall completed the infrastructure and electrical design for adding three new charging stations to the Town Hall, two at the parking lot and one at the ADA stalls.
East Sunset Drive Roadway Widening City Council has passed a resolution to award the contract to Brannon Corporation.
Westwind Community Barn: Provided a punch list to the contractor on 2/14/22 and performed final inspection on 2/18/22. This project is complete and will close out the contract.
Sanitary sewer rehab and replacement project provided the contractor, C2R Engineering, with the fully executed contract. The contractor anticipates starting work on 2/28 with pre-construction CCTV inspection.Encroachment Permits and Customer Requests Encroachment Permits: 2 See Click Fix, iWorQ, or customer calls: 6 Pathway Projects
- Altamont Plunge pathway – reviewed and finalized development plans with a crosswalk and pedestrian crossing signs
- Fremont/Redwood Grove - solicited proposals for CASp services to study ADA requirements for the pathway
- Matadero Creek pathway – modified header boards and cleaned up the pathway (see photo below).
Maintenance Crew After hours or weekend callouts: 1 Fallen trees/major limbs down: 0- Assisted Sheriff with road closure at page mill road
- General field maintenance at Purissima park, facilities work at the corporation yard, and continue weed abatement.
- El Monte Rd & Voorheer intersection – damaged detection loops were replaced over the weekend and the loops were soldered to the signal controller. Traffic signal operation based on demand is now fully restored.
- Applied a decal to provide a number to each fleet vehicle owned by Town

Finance, Human Resources, IT Services- Received $264,682cash receipts and electronic funds transfer (EFT).
- Processed 102 invoices totaling $375,940.
- Recruitment update: With the City Council approval of full-time staffing, we will have an open recruitment for an Accounting Technician in Administrative Services Department and Administrative/Clerk Technician under the City Manager’s Office.
- City of Redwood City IT Services expires June 30, 2022. Staff will have an IT contractor to bridge the gap while we complete an IT strategic plan to determine staffing level and the Town’s technology needs.
