Staff Meeting with GreenWaste Executive Team

This week Town management met with the GreenWaste Executive team to discuss the proposed timeline of negotiations set forth in Amendment #2, which was approved by Council in November of 2021. Both parities reaffirmed the commitment to addressing the concerns shared by Town residents under the current collection program.

City Manager Pirnejad was invited to attend the LAHCF Board meeting on 4/19 to share perspectives and hear from the Board.

Regional Updates


New County Fire Chief
Yesterday, during the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board announced the the appointment Suwanna L. Kerdkaew as fire chief of the Santa Clara County Central Fire Protection District. This appointment is effective April 19, 2022.  Chief Brian Glass will be returning to the position of assistant fire chief and supporting Chief Kerdkaew through the transition process. 


County Report on Emergency Fire Services in South County
At the April 20th Board of Supervisor Meeting the board voted 5-0 to approve referral to Approve referral to Administration and County Counsel to report to the Board with options for strategies to ensure emergency and fire services in South County remain adequate and sustainable.

Los Altos Hills County Fire District (LAHCFD) is hosting an Emergency Prep Fair scheduled for Saturday, April 30 from 10am -1 pm, at Town Hall.

Staff continues to work on the Housing Element update by preparing site inventories and reviewing administrative drafts from the consultant of various sections of the draft document.

Public Works 


CIP Projects

Sanitary sewer rehab and replacement project – this project is near completion.

East Sunset Drive Roadway Widening – pre-construction meeting is scheduled on 4/26/22 and construction to begin on 5/9/22.


Prop 68: Purissima Park Concession and Community Room improvement Bid package is online here. A pre-bid meeting is schedule for next week. 

Pathways Projects

Altamont Plunge Pathway – construction is scheduled to begin in the first week of May.  Improvements include a new switchback pathway from the top of the slope to the toe of the slope.  A new 10-ft pedestrian crosswalk, shark teeth pavement markings, and new street signs.

La Paloma to Robleda pathway – construction is scheduled to begin in the second week of May.  Improvements include a new pathway, and a new lumber bridge across the creek.  Construction notices have been mailed out to residents.


New Charging Stations at Town Hall

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at Town Hall – Currently, there is one EV charging station in the Town Hall Parking Lot.  To meet the current and future demand for EV charging, two additional charging stations will be added to the Town Hall to provide a total of three EV charging stations. 

The improvements include a new underground raceway from the electrical room to the charging stations, a new electrical subpanel, and electrical wiring.  The improvements will increase the charging capacity to five times the current capacity.  The tentatively start date for this project is in May.

Additional contracts set to expire in June have been addressed:


Town staff has been tracking contracts set to expire. The latest round of contracts brought to the Council to address these expiring contracts include:
  • Eaton & Associates for IT Services-City Council approved agreement on April 21, 2022
  • Bayscape Landscape Management-City Council approved agreement on April 21, 2002
  • Grassroots Ecology Contract- Scheduled to be on the May 20, 2022 City Council agenda
Staff engaged Jonathan Reichental to conduct an IT 3 Year Strategic Plan and will manage the project in three phases: Discovery, Design, and Delivery.  Jonathan will be meeting with City Council, Technology Committee, and Staff.  Jonathan plans to delivery his results to the Technology Committee in July and to the City Council in August.

Finance staff preparing the Proposed FY2022-23 Operating Budget and Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan to review with the City Council and the FIC in May.


Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable: 
  • Received $1,035,432 in cash receipts and/or electronic funds transfer (EFT).
  • Processed 68 invoices for a total of $138,240.
  • Processed 35 payroll checks for a total of $92,006.

Hoppin' Hound Biscuit Hunt - Last Saturday the Town held Hoppin' Hounds Biscuit Hunt for Dogs benefiting Pets in Need. Thank you to the Parks and Recreation Committee associate member for their efforts: Rebecca Hickman, Val Metcalf,  and Patty Radlo. We had a total of 107 registrations through the Town’s registration system. Highlight video linked below. 
 
$1,070 registrations
$145 special donations in addition to their registration
$274 donations PIN received on event day
$1,489 raised for Pets in Need


Earth Day Celebration - Saturday, April 24 1-4 pm at Westwind Community Barn.  We have over 25 green exhibitors confirmed for this weekend's event.1:15 pm and 3:00 pm there will be Reptile Shows and Grassroots Ecology will lead a hike at 2:00 pm.

Detective Case Update:

  • In November of 2021, the victim’s vehicle was stolen from the gated driveway of a residence where the victim worked.
  • The vehicle keys, which were left inside the residence while the victim was away out of town, were stolen along with the car.
  • Detectives were able to identify the suspect as someone who also used to work at the residence.
  • The suspect was recently charged with auto theft.
