Incoming Storm

The incoming storms looks quite severe over the next week given the amount of rain, saturation of the ground, high gusty winds, and anticipated flooding, downed trees, landslides and power disruptions. Please be on heightened alert and refer to our emergency preparedness webpage  for helpful information.  For after hour number click here.  With significant rain in the forecast, a reminder of the Los Altos Hills Sandbag Station located at Corporation Yard parking lot, 27500 Purissima Rd. This is a self serve station has sand and bags.  Properly filled sandbags can be a simple and effective way to divert, absorb, and block water.

Flood Preparedness

The Santa Clara Valley Water District shared this annual mailer to residents and businesses in the FEMA-designated Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA) in Santa Clara County. It is intended to reach residents and property owners living near creeks and rivers at potential risk of flooding and explains how Valley Water works with communities to reduce flood risks. Flock Safety ALPR: The Town of Los Altos Hill has deployed 40 Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras throughout the Town. The town-wide coverage of the ALPR system has been beneficial to our Office in solving and preventing crimes.

The following are recent events where the Town's ALPR system led to an arrest or deterred crime:

  • December 20, 2022 – A felony vehicle entered the Town. The ALPR system alerted our Deputies to the wanted vehicle, and within minutes Deputies located the vehicle and conducted an enforcement stop on the driver. The driver was detained without incident, and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days by the California Highway Patrol.
  • December 21, 2022 – ALPR cameras advised Deputies of a vehicle with a felony want attached to the license plate for evading a San Jose Police. Within two minutes, deputies located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and led deputies on a 15-mile pursuit. The driver eventually stopped his vehicle, and he was taken into custody without incident. The driver had multiple felony warrants and was in possession of stolen property.
  • December 22, 2022 – A stolen vehicle entered the Town, and the ALPR system alerted Deputies. Several Deputies responded to the Town and searched for the stolen vehicle. Deputies were able to utilize the ALPR system and locate the vehicle. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop, but the vehicle failed to stop and fled. Deputies discontinued their pursuit in the interest of public safety. The ALPR alert assisted Deputies in preventing possible criminal activity in Los Altos Hills.
