FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – OCTOBER 15, 2021
Earlier this year, Los Altos Hills City Manager Carl Cahill announced his retirement from the positon of City Manager, effective as of October 29, 2021. The City Council extends its sincerest thanks to Carl for his more than 22 years of service to the Town and its residents. As City Manager, Carl served the Town with dedication, providing leadership, guidance, and oversight to all Town staff. Carl also helped the Town maintain a stable budget and navigate the unprecedented challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic. In my role as Mayor, and on behalf of the City Council, we wish Carl the very best in his retirement.
On a related matter, our City Council agenda for the meeting on October 21, 2021 includes an agenda item for consideration of an employment agreement with Peter Pirnejad to serve as City Manager for Los Altos Hills. Mr. Pirnejad was selected following an extensive recruitment and interview process that included input from our community members and staff. Mr. Pirnejad has extensive local government leadership experience and holds a Ph.D. in Policy, Planning, and Development from the University of Southern California. Most recently, he served as City Manager for Foster City and prior to that as a Senior Director at Oracle leading the Global Public Sector Industry Strategy Group. He has also served as the Director of Development Services for the City of Palo Alto, and as the Assistant City Manager in charge of Development Services for the City of Napa.
