Election Officers Needed - Earn up to $200


The Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters' Office has issued a call for 5,000 to 6,00 election officers to serve in the 824 polling places for the June 5, 2018 Statewide Direct Primary Election.

In addition to Election Day workers, the Registrar's office is hiring full-time temporary positions for its Early Vote Centers that open 10 days before the election.  These officers will receive three weeks of training to operate the seven full-service around the county. Previous clerical experience is required for Early Vote Center workers.

Below are some of the duties of election officers



What does an election officer do...


before an Election:

  • Attend a training class
  • Partial setup the day before election
on Election Day before polls open?
  • Arrive at the assigned polling site by 6:00 a.m.
  • Complete opening procedures and help setup polling site, ensuring it opens for voting by 7:00 a.m. sharp
on Election Day after the polls have opened?
  • Follow procedures to establish a voter's right to vote.
  • Work with a team of other elction officers to assist and process voters.
  • Demonstrate how to mark a ballot.
on Election Day after the polls have closed?
  • Assist any voters remaining in line to vote after the polls close at 8:00 p.m.
  • Completer closing procedures and pack up voting supplies and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • a U.S. Citizen and a California registered voter
                                               OR
  • a U.S. legal permanent resident

Stipends:

  • Inspectors: $170.00 to $200.00
  • Clerks: $115.00 to $145.00
  • Additional $10 paid for qualified Bilinguals: Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese.
