  1. Sudden Oak Death (SOD) Blitz

    May 18, 2019, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Portola Valley Town Center

This effort, led by UC Berkeley, is designed for all Californians to participate in the fight against Sudden Oak Death, the destructive exotic disease that is decimating oaks throughout the state. Please attend our short and informative training session where you will receive training and a SOD Blitz collection kit with everything you need to survey and sample symptomatic Bay Laurel trees in our area, making you part of the hundreds of citizen scientists who are helping to track the presence of Sudden Oak Death. Because of the extreme amount of rainfall this past winter, 2019 could be one of the worst years for the spread of Sudden Oak Death. By volunteering a small amount of your time, you can make a large impact toward helping control this disease. The event is open to all and collection materials and SOD testing are provided free. Bring your mobile phone or GPS.
