Overview
In the last ten years, the average size of a typical new single-family house built in Los Altos Hills is 6,700 sq. ft. The Town has also seen the construction of some new single-family homes in the range of 10,000-25,000 sq. ft. The homes are sometimes referred to as estate homes.
The maximum allowable size of a home is proportional to the size of the lot and the slope (for example a 1 acre flat lot is allowed up to 6,000 sq. ft. of floor area and a 5 acre flat lot is allowed up to 30,000 sq. ft. of floor area).
