Los Altos Hills Neighborhood Network Program Print E-mail

altHow well do you know your neighbors?

If there were a town wide emergency, would you know what to do and who to contact?

This program helps you host an event to get your neighborhood together for a social gathering as well as emergency preparedness.

Back in the early 90’s, the Town had a Neighborhood Emergency Network to facilitate safety and emergency efforts if a town wide emergency took place.  The town has been working with the Santa Clara County Fire Department and the Los Altos Hills County Fire District to bring this great program back to our community under a new name - the Neighborhood Network Program.

The program combines training efforts by the Santa Clara County Fire Department and the Los Altos Hills County Fire District for CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and PEP (Personal Emergency Preparedness) training with an opportunity to host an event, get to know your neighbors and have sign ups for neighborhood responsibilities in case of emergency.

Here’s how it works:
  • A detailed map of the town has been segmented into 35 neighborhoods.
  • Residents for each segment will be encouraged to host a neighborhood party or event where people can meet to learn more about the emergency training and get to know their neighbors.
  • To get started, you decide when you would like to have the event, then fill out the invitation form.
  • Once you click the “submit” button on the form, the Town will mail the invitation to all your neighbors in your map segment.
  • Here is a sample mailer of what your neighbors will receive:
  • If you’d like, a representative from the Los Altos Hills County Fire District will speak at the event and supply you with additional handouts.

This program will increase neighborhood awareness, fellowship and familiarity with all people in your immediate vicinity.  It will also help us spot any people with special needs who should be helped in case of emergency.
