CalCities City Managers Conference
Last week, City Manager Pirnejad attended the 2022 CalCities. The conference is designed for city managers and assistant city managers, providing city officials with the essential information and updates needed to effectively run their cities. Topics included diversity, Emergency Operations, post-pandemic workforce, and more. Meeting new and maintaining relationships with CMs around the state is essential in sharing ideas and thought leadership.
GreenWaste
Staff started initial conversations with GreenWaste as part of our agreement, signed last November, to begin good faith negotiations towards revising how garbage, recycling, and compost collection services are provided to Town residents. The goal of this meeting was to establish the community engagement process with bookends to the process.
CRC Meeting to discuss effort to consolidate committees on public safety
In cooperation with the City Council liaison the CRC kicked off a brainstorming effort aimed at meeting one of the 2022 Council priorities, “Consolidate Committees on public safety” Look forward to more communications coming out of the CRC on this important effort.
Automatic License Plate Reader
38/40 ALPR cameras have been installed. The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office continues to receive information from the system to provide leads in ongoing investigates and keep the Town safe.
Next week at the Regular City Council Meeting (February 17th), the City Council will review proposed evaluation criteria for the ALPR system. The cameras are currently operating under a 60-day pilot program, at the end of which the City Council will decide whether to keep the cameras in Town or have them removed. The proposed evaluation criteria will provide the metrics by which the cameras will be reviewed.

Emergency Prep
This week staff interviewed a potential Emergency Preparedness Consultant for the Town. Finding a new consultant is one of the Council’s proprieties identified for the 2022 calendar year. The new Emergency Preparedness Consultant will assist the Town in emergency training, planning a table-top emergency drill, and better position the Town to respond to potential emergencies in the future.
Art in Public Places
The art proposed at the round-a-bout at town hall is expected to arrive mid-2022. Staff is in discussions about next steps with said art in light of town hall expansion plans being in discussion.
