City Council Priorities

The City Council Priorities for 2022 were approved at the February 17, 2022 regular City Council meeting.  

Water Conservation

As of February 2022, 68% of the state, including Los Altos Hills, is in a Severe Drought.  Did you know that Valley Water is offering a Landscape Rebate Program.

PG&E submitted its annual Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) to the California Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety on Friday, February 25. A copy of the WMP will be available at www.pge.com/wildfiremitigationplan.

Site Development / Fast Track Public Hearing
On February 22, 2022, planning staff held a public hearing to review a Site Development Permit for landscape screening for an approved new residence located at 12930 La Cresta Drive – file #SD21-0086.  The project was approved with a few new conditions. The video recording and conditions of approval has been uploaded to the Town’s website and can be accessed here: https://www.losaltoshills.ca.gov/501/Public-Meeting-Resources under the meeting date.


Housing Element Update: 
Staff continue to seek responses on the Housing Element survey. So far staff has received approximately 420 responses to the survey.

Engineering
Matadero Creek – developed conceptual design of rock slope protection, in lieu of soldier walls, to stabilize the creek. 

CIP Projects

Town Hall – reached out to different contractors and requesting quotes to construct the underground raceway, install wiring, add a wall mounted sub-panel, and add two new charging stations (for a total of 3) to the parking lot and ADA stall.

East Sunset Drive Roadway Widening – received cost proposals from two consulting firms, CSG Consultants and Bellecci & Associates, for construction inspection services. 

Westwind Community Barn feeding pasture fence improvements – work complete and closing out the contract.

Sanitary sewer rehab and replacement project – provided the contractor, C2R Engineering, with the fully executed contract.  The contractor anticipates to start work on 3/1 with pre-construction CCTV inspection.

Pathway Projects

  1. Fremont/Redwood Grove – selected CSG for CASp services to study ADA requirements for the pathway
  2. Catherine Court pathway – installed a French drain system to alleviate ground water issues (see completed pathway photo below)
  3. El Monte Road pathway – cleared up the pathway and cleaned up mud caused by erosion
  4. Summerhill road pathway – completed a walk of the trail with Bob E. to familiarize new staff with all areas that need to be improved. Plan to start working on an encroachment permit with the county to start work on the areas that can be improved without further design or easement requirements.
Maintenance Crew
  1. Replaced OM1-1 signs with yellow reflectors at fifteen locations throughout the Town to enhance safety for motorists and bicyclists.
  2. Purissima Park – mowed turf and nail dragging the infield
  3. Ongoing maintenance activities for town facilities, roads, trails and storm drain systems.

February Budget Appropriations City Council approved:
  • $81,000 – convert 2 part time positions to full-time.
  • Administrative Clerk/Technician-City Manager’s Office
  • Accounting Technician-Administrative Services Department
  • $60,000 – Facility Needs Assessment
  • $1,007,480 – Establish ARPA fund for Revenue and Expenditure
  • Received $36,443 in cash receipts and electronic funds transfer (EFT).
Processed 59 payroll checks and 2 voids with a payroll liability of $140,099.

The staff conducted their Annual Budget Retreat at Chapel of the Hills and it was very productive (photo below).

  • Administrative/Clerk Technician under the City Manager’s Office. Recruitment closes March 7, 2022.

Hoppin' Hound Biscuit Hunt - Saturday, April 16 9-10:30am

Earth Day Celebration - Saturday, April 24 1-4 pm at Westwind Community Barn

Los Altos/Los Altos Hills Little League

Little League is bringing back their Opening Day celebration for the first time since 2019. It will take place on Saturday, March 12 at 12:30pm at Purissima Park in Los Altos Hills. Come celebrate the official opening of the Little League season and watch Mayors Tyson and Enander throw the ceremonial First Pitches.
