Lehigh QuarryThe Santa Clara County's Board of Supervisor’s Housing, Land Use, Environment and Transportation Committee met on May 19th and received a report from staff that includes a compilation of notices of violation issued to Lehigh by 15 different local, state and federal agencies. Water ConservationAs we are in a drought emergency both Purissima Hills Water District and Santa Clara Valley Water offer free water conservation tools. California Water Service offers Conservation Kits. Please visit the website to find more information on how to conserve water. Valley Water also offeres a variety of water conservation tips and resources, including tools, rebates, and an online shopping cart where Santa Clara County residents can order free water conservation devies to help save water inside and outside of homes and businesses. Altamont Road Evacuation Route Project Altamont Road represents a significant thoroughfare for the Los Altos Hills. The road is an essential egress in the case of fire. Public Hearings on Development Projects
Site Development / Fast Track Public Hearing On May 17, 2022, planning staff held a public hearing to review the following items: - 13940 La Paloma Road – File #SD21-0091 – Lands of Wang Site Development Permit for landscape screening, fencing and driveway gate for an approved new residence The project was approved with conditions.
- 24752 Olive Tree Lane – File #SD21-0096 – Lands of Duong Site Development Permit for landscape screening and associated hardscape improvements. The project was approved with conditions.

Housing Element Update Staff is coordinating dates for the next community workshop for the Housing Element update. It will be a joint City Council, Planning Commission, and community meeting. Stay Tuned. Other updates: Implementation of Climate Action Plan - Staff issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for home electrification assessment on May 16, 2022. Responses are due on June 17, 2022, at 4:00 pm.

Public Works Engineering Matadero Creek restoration project: After discussions with the water board and due to limited options at the site, staff has revised our off-site mitigation proposal to include a creek restoration project in the Byrne Reserve, which is close to the project but one watershed away in the Adobe Creek watershed. We hope this will meet the requirements to obtain the permit for the project. We will continue to seek a solution to improve this vital roadway for the Town.CIP Projects - East Sunset Dr roadway widening – Started drilling for pier holes on 5/19/2022. The project schedule to complete in early July, 2022.
- 2022 Pavement Rehab Project- Staff had completed plans, specifications, and bid documents. Staff will request city council to authorize for advertisement on May 25 meeting.
- Traffic Speed Survey: Town traffic engineering consultant had completed the traffic speed survey and in process of preparing the report.
- The permanent repairs for Town roads on work performed by Purissima Water District scheduled for early July and striping done in mid-July.
- Saddle Court: met resident out on side to confirm alignment.
Summerhill Pathway: Staff Completed - 50% design but due to the in-house workload, staff is unable to complete the 100% without significant delays. Therefore, to keep the project moving forward staff issue an RFP (Informal bids) this week with the goal to complete the design by October and have the project ready for construction in January of 2023.
- Town Hall Addition: Contractor completing final punchlist items, preparing to close out project
- Town Hall Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations – The underground scope of the Town Hall EV charging stations began on Wednesday, 5/18/22. Equipment and construction materials were delivered to the job site. The crew started with clearing and grubbing the site behind the Town Hall, and potholing to expose existing utilities along or across the alignment of the main utility trench. The crew then proceeded with excavating a 2 foot wide utility trench and installed new electrical and communications conduits in the trench. The electrical conduits will be used to install power feed wires from the electrical room to new EV charging stations. The communication conduits will be used in the future to install communications cables from the IT room to the Council Chambers, and ultimately to the Heritage House. Spare conduits are also provided in the utility trench for future use. The duration of the underground scope is approximately two weeks. We appreciate your patience but look forward to providing additional charging stations for the community to enjoy in the near future.
- Working on Sewer CIP 2022. Public Works may hire a consultant in order to determine areas for sewer CIP.
- Prop 68, Improvements to Concession Building Construction Project at Purissima Park– working on getting a building permit for the Concession Building Improvements. The construction contract for MTW Builders will be on the agenda for City Council’s approval on May 25.
Tree Removals Received proposal for arborist reports on trees along Page Mill Road, staff is reviewing - 10545 West Loyola Drive, an oak tree poses a hazard and should be removed.
10701 Blandor Way, a dead pine tree must be removed. 13800 Robleda Road, a dead pine tree must be removed. 13800 La Paloma Road, two dead pine trees that need to be removed.
Private Development Natoma Oaks subdivision – Two minor items to be resolved. Public Works is working on issuing refund and closing out.

Maintenance Robleda-La Paloma path: Started the construction for the Robleda-La Paloma path, grubbing 300 feet of path, started 2 retaining walls and the completed the foot bridge. Photo above.
Responded to one emergency call due to a fallen tree on Elena Road blocking both lanes of the road.
There has been one fallen trees/major limbs down for the week.
Staff continue the work to eradicate invasive weeds at Byrne Preserve mowing approximately three acres.
Staff replaced expired AED pads throughout Town facilities and performed maintenance work at the Purissima park facilities.
Friday we celebrated Public Works Week, and all town staff attended a BBQ lunch at the Corporation yard. We hosted our partners from Purisima Hills Water District, California Water and West Bay Sanitary District. Photo below.

- Issued 37 payroll checks with a liability of $99,121.
- Staff will post the Proposed FY22-23 Operating Budget and FY2023-2027 Five Year Capital Improvement Plan on the Town’s website May 20, 2022.

Community Services Meet the Goats
Last week the Town partnered with Los Altos Hills County Fire District (LAHCFD) and hosted two successful sessions of Meet the Goats. This event included coffee, pastries, hike through Byrne Preserve and a presentation by Denise Gluhan from LAHCFD on the value of goats for vegetation management. This week the program was highlighted in the Town Crier. Youth & Teen Recreation Services
This week, recreation staff attended Youth & Teen Recreation Services meeting at the San Carlos Youth Center. Events/Activities
Cornhole Tournament - Sunday, May 22 Noon-3 pm Hosted by the Parks and Recreation Committee. Register to play here. Join staff Thursday, May 26th at 9:00am at Town Hall (last Thursday of each month). Each walk is roughly 2 miles and begins at Town Hall, designed for "Seniors." Questions, contract, Chris at 650-927-2506.
Town Picnic - Sunday, June 5 12:30-4:00 pm Registration is open to Los Altos Hills residents only and completed here. This event will include fun for all: DJ, bounce houses, classic car show, lunch, ice cream, magic show, trackless train, petting zoo, pony rides, and 360 photo booth. No pets allowed.

Sideshow Activity in Town:
Sideshows (the unlawful operation of vehicles in a group setting), have been spotted in Town. An arrest was made on Sunday May 8, 2022, after a vehicle involved in a sideshow fled from deputies. Deputies are monitoring activity and attempting to curve further events.
If a sideshow is spotted, residents should: - Immediately call 9-1-1
- Avoid the intersection/location
- Not engage participants
- Be mindful of speeding vehicles
- Drive defensively
